Our Vision

"That people, wildlife and habitat survive and prosper without being detrimental to the existence of each other."

ecological services unitCurrently in Queensland, and most other states in Australia, inadequate regulations allow the clearing of land with little regard for the consequences to wildlife. Many wild animals are killed or injured when vegetation is cleared and, sadly, most are never found or rescued for veterinary treatment and care.

The ESU adheres to a formal Code of Practice that it has developed to appropriately manage animals affected by land clearing. This is a key focus of the team and it is hoped that, ultimately, this Code will set an industry benchmark in Australia and may be replicated around the world.

The ESU staff are also very experienced in a range of specialized ecological assessment services, including detailed fauna/flora surveys, radio-tracking and identifying a site's key ecological values.

The ESU is therefore striving to protect and preserve wildlife and its habitat by:-

  • Promoting best practice in regards to protecting wildlife, its habitat and the management and conservation of viable habitat.
