Welcome to Visionary HQ

We are excited you are here!

Thank you for joining the Visionary Wildlife Warriors program, you have taken the first step in helping us create a better, more harmonious world—one where wildlife and humanity thrive together.

This year, we will work together to protect wildlife species, conserve natural habitats and empower others to do the same. Throughout this program, you will learn about our conservation efforts and projects
we support, raise funds and awareness to support our message and become a conservation leader in your community.

Remember, it is only by working together that we can make a real difference! Saving one animal goes a long way towards saving the entire species.

Let’s get into conservation for May!

Visionary highlight!

Visionary Wildlife Warrior Jefferey is passionate about learning about our wildlife and all the ways we can make a difference in protecting them!

Jefferey learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly, their ecosystem and pollination, including releasing some Painted Lady butterflies back into the wild!

You are incredible Jefferey! Keep up the great work!

Knowledge is an important and powerful conservation mission!

Visionary Wildlife Warrior Bailey has been learning about our marine life, ocean ecosystems and cleaning up local beaches after recent flooding saw lots of plastics, metal, cans and bottles washed ashore. Bailey even used a metal detector to find objects buried beneath the sand. Thank you for protecting our awesome marine life! Keep up the amazing work, Bailey!

Saving Steve Irwin's turtle

Spotlight on Conservation

Irwin's Turtle Conservation

In 1990, Steve Irwin discovered a rare species of freshwater turtle on the Burdekin River, Queensland.

The Irwin’s turtle was thought to have been lost from the lower Burdekin River, as it was not seen for approximately 25 years, following the construction of the Burdekin Falls Dam in 1987. With the constant threats of habitat degradation and pollution, the time has come to ensure the protection of this important turtle species.

Little is known about their population. To ensure their future, Wildlife Warriors and Australia Zoo have partnered to establish an insurance population, with the aim of breeding and releasing the turtles in the future.

Check out the video above to learn about Irwin’s Turtle conservation at Australia Zoo and how your efforts can make a difference to discover more about these unique reptiles and how to protect the species named in Steve’s honour.

Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital Patient Profile of the Month

Meet Costa the Loggerhead Sea Turtle!

This little loggerhead sea turtle, Costa, came into the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital at only 36 grams (1.3oz).

Costa was found floating, and upon admission to the hospital, the team had found he had ingested plastic.

Thankfully, after a short time with the specialised veterinary team he is free of plastic and well enough to be released back home into the ocean!

As an endangered species, turtles like Costa are vital for the species survival.

Plastic ingestion is unfortunately all too common for our marine life. Disposing of plastics, bottles and cans in the designated bins is essential to their protection!

Stories like Costa’s are only possible because of the support from Wildlife Warriors, just like you!

Irwin's Turtle Hatchlings

We fight for an extremely important cause - to protect wildlife and wild places!

The original Wildlife Warriors, Steve and Terri Irwin, started our global wildlife force in 2002 and, today, we work together with Terri, Bindi, Chandler and Robert to continue Steve’s legacy.

As a Visionary Wildlife Warrior, every dollar you raise, every conservation mission you complete and every person you encourage to get involved in conservation contributes to making Steve’s dream a reality.

STEVE’S DREAM:

“A world where people, wildlife and habitat can thrive alongside one another.”
